The first basic exercise is called «The Big Tree». The Big Tree is the most important exercise of the first stage of the ZYQ system and it dates back thousands of years. Various schools of Qigong and KungFu practice it in many forms. We can say that trees know how to receive energy from the sky and the earth. We need to learn these skills from the trees by becoming them. We practice this exercise to increase the amount of vital energy and for rapid healing of the body.

1: Stand relaxed with your feet shoulder width apart. Relax your neck.

2: Bring up your arms up to the level of the navel, as if holding an energy ball in between your navel and your hands.

3: Imagine yourself as a big tree.

4: Your legs are extending deep into the Earth like roots to absorb energy.

5: Your body is extending upwards into sky like branches and leaves.

6: Let both energies come into the ball in between your arms.

7: Practice for 30 minutes (or start with 15 minutes and gradually increase it to 30 minutes).

8: After half an hour, come back from being a big tree to being yourself again.

9: Let the ball filled with qi become smaller.

10: Put your hands on your navel, concentrate the ball in lower abdomen.

11: Rub your palms and pat down your body to release any muscle tension.
